A kennel system that brought in new clients
Shelters had no reliable answer to where an animal was, or since when. I built kennel management from the ground up.
The problem
A shelter moves animals constantly — between kennels, into quarantine, out on transfer. The staff had no single place that answered where an animal was and since when, so the answer lived in people's heads and on paper. That breaks down exactly when it matters: an intake surge, a quarantine call, an inspection.
What I did
Built kennel management as a feature of its own: movement history so every transfer leaves a trace, quarantine status attached to the animal rather than tracked on the side, reordering, and hierarchical location management so a building, a room and a kennel are the same kind of thing at different depths. Architecture with DDD and component-driven development.
The result
It became the feature that attracted major new clients to the company.
